Hand with chalk crosses out "Stress" and writes "Relax" on a blackboard, conveying a shift from tension to calm.

Fatigue, low energy, lack of motivation. All of these symptoms can be the result of chronic stress. In the busy, crazy, bustling world we live in today, most of us are under some sort of stress, most of the time. That isn't to say that all stress is bad. It could be your body moving and going to get something done, complete work, or get that workout in. All of those things, among other things, are good. When we do those things, though, and then do not give our bodies and minds the rest that it needs to recharge, we end of with chronic stress which causes all of the symptoms I listed above.

What can you do? Start by giving yourself grace. You don't need to do everything all the time at full speed. This doesn't mean you shouldn't put in effort, but rather, at the end of the day, assess what can be postponed so you can focus on self-care. Consider taking a bath or engaging in a 10-minute stretching session with mindful breathing. Apply a castor oil pack on your abdomen with a hot pack. Enjoy some chocolate and treat yourself to regular massage treatment. An Epsom salt float is also very relaxing. Stay hydrated by drinking water. Spend some time in the sun, even on cloudy days. Ensure you get good sleep!

Engaging in these activities will soothe your nervous system and prepare you for upcoming tasks. Practicing one or more of these activities briefly each day can reduce your "fight or flight" response, allowing you to be at your best for those you care for.

While taking care of others, don't neglect your own self-care.
